Situated at the southeast end of Mt. Lao and covering an area of 4.2 km2, Taiqing Scenic Spot is characteristic of Taoist scenes, plants from the south of the Yangtze River, and extraordinary rocky sights. The scenic spot is embraced by mountains on three sides and faces the sea on one side, featuring the flourishing forest trees. Over 170 kinds of plants with origins in south China here prevent the fierce heat in summer and severe cold in winter, so the Scenic Spot also enjoys the praise of “Little South China”. Laoshan Taiqing Palace is the largest Taoist temple in Qingdao, the flat and broad place in front of the Palace is the former site of Haiyin Temple built by Monk De Qing in 1588.
